Former champions of Tnm Super League, Silver Strikers is set to beef up its squad during the coming transfer window period, Times Maravi has learnt.
Rumours circulating in social media shows that Silver has fired their mentor Stain Chirwa for failure to finish on position 2 during the break as instructed by its executive but the executive has refuted this claim.
Speaking to ZBS sports desk on Thursday morning, one member of the executive said the coach has not been fired ” We are not axing any from our technical panel but our coaches has told us that the current crop of our players needs to be beefed “.
Silver Strikers released Chawanangwa Kawonga, Frank Banda, Young Chimodzi Junior and brought to their squad Timothy Chitedze, Tizgolowere Kumwenda and Victor Limbani but the Bankers could not bounce back as it started with two loses.
Times Maravi has found that the Bankers who are currently on position 7 with 19 points have shown keen interest of signing John Lanjesi from their City rival Civo United, Dalitso Sailesi from Big Bullets, Chisomo Mpachika from Dedza Young Soccer, Richard Chipuwa and Bongani Kaipa from Mighty Be Forward Wanderers. Asked to comment on the matter, Mike Chimdidi Tembo said that it is true that they want to strengthen their squad by bringing in experienced players but refused to name the targeted players “its true but the targeted players are not yet decided, everything will be known when the transfer window opens”
In a related development, Azam Tigers’ youngster, Yamikani Chester has shown his interest of heading to Lali Lubani side Mighty Be Forward Wanderers but Wanderers’ General Secretary was not available for comments.
With just a week to close the first round of 2015/2016 Tnm Super League season, Big Bullets still leads the log table with undefeated record, seconded by their traditional rivals Wanderers.
