FORMER Waderers chairman ,Humprey Mvula becomes has become the latest person to show interest in Football Association of Malawi’s presidency.
The former Shire bus lines boss declared that he is standing to clean the mess that has been at FAM. In an interview with Times Maravi, Mvula accepted of standing during the December coming FAM election, ”yes I have decided to stand not simply because its a hot seat but to improve areas that has been weak.”
”Its high time the Association like FAM to rely on goverment coffers only.I want to bring an exapatriate coach who can steer us to 2018 World Cup and it is possible” said Mvula
On the development which FAM is failing to hire an expatriate citing financial problems, Mvula had this to say, ”Look our friends in Zambia pay exapriate coaches from other sources like from mining companies and we have our own companies which can also do the same if approached”.
The ex-UDF heavy weight joins the race to challenge Walter Nyamirandu with several faces which includes former celebrated goalkeeper Boniface Maganga,Former Lilongwe City chief Kelvin M’mangisa,a prominent lawyer cum golfer Gift Makhwawa and Chikwawa United owner Owen Chomanika.
36 FAM’s affiliates are legible to vote and these are Super League of Malawi,Southern Region Football Association,Central Region Football Association,Northen Region Football Association,Womens Football Association,National referees Association and youth football development.
Mean while former football Association of Malawi Genaral Secretary ,Charles Nyirenda wants to stand for the position of second vice president.He said he want to improve technical aspects.
”It seems the emphasis is on the senior national team results,but there is more that needs to be done to improve the game,including proffesionalising the game at top level.
”There are other areas such as improving refereeing and coaching at District level.We need to improve the structures right from the bottom and having been in the system before,I have the technical know-how of how to go about it”Nyirenda cum soccer anylist said.
Nyirenda is likely to contest against incumbent Second Veep Pikawo Ngalamia and Othaniel Hara
