A truck belonging to a Zimbabwean Company called TDB Enterprise met its fate at Dedza Border on Wednesday afternoon after its head got burnt to ashes, Times Maravi has learnt.
According to Dedza Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Edward kabango, the driver, Patrick Botha who is of Zimbabwean origin confided with Dedza Police Station that the truck’s head caught into flames following a wiring fault. However, Times Maravi has found that the fire resulted from a gas cooker which was being used inside the truck near its horse by a woman who accompanied the driver on the journey.
The fire did not affect the trailler which carried about thirty tonnes of salt as people managed to put the fire off and the trailler remains at the border guarded by Police.
The truck was transporting salt from Zimbabwe to Rab Processors Limited in Blantyre.
