Following his classic perfomance at club level, Blue Eagles’ forward Shumacker Kuwali has been called to join other local players in the flames’ squad at Chiwembe Technical Center Ground.
Speaking to journalists, Flames’ head coach Enerst Mtawali said he decided to call Kuwali to be a back up striker following the withdrawal of Chiukepo Msowoya due to an injury. Apart from Kuwali, Mtawali also said that he wants to call back Bloemfontein Celtic forward Gabadinho Mhango after his club declared him fit to play. Mhango has been out for some months due to an injury.
Mtawali added that there is a need to bring in sharp strikers who do not care about goalkeepers as Kuwali so that the team should atleast manage to score goals easily.
Kuwali has netted Six goals in two matches for his club Blue Eagles and this is his first national team call up. He will join local players which include Mighty Be Forward Wanderers, striker Victor Nyirenda who was also called due to Chiukepo’s injury.
Malawi will travel to Tanzania to play the ‘Taifa Stars’ on 7th October before a second league encounter on 11th October in 2018 World Cup Qualifiers Preliminary Round.
