The State President of Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma has called upon International Community in an initiative to transform the United Nations Security Council into a supplementary representative and inclusive body.
Speaking at the 70th United Nations General Assembly on Monday, Zuma said that nothing has been achieved on the commitment which was taken by 2005 world leaders which aimed at reforming U.N Security Council. He added that it is unacceptable and unjustifiable for a continent with a smaller population than Africa to be represented by three countries on the U.N. Security Council.
The leader of the Rainbow Nation further said that U.N should not pretend that the world has not changed 1945, but countries have changed and are no longer under colony states, “We are no longer colonies. We are free, independent sovereign states.”
There have been many attacks by terrorists such as Boko Haram, Al-Shabab, Al-Qaeda and Lord’s Resistance Army which have been terrorising Western and Eastern Africa and people from other African countries are afraid of going to the Rainbow Nation following recent xenophobic attacks which forced immigrants to go back to their countries.
