A group of angry students at Chankhandwe Secondary School in Lilongwe have set ablaze the school’s administration office due to what they call a reaction to delay in response to their queries.
The misery which occurred in the wee hours of Sunday have left the office in pieces with a lot of school properties such as books and boxes of chalk burnt.
According to what Nthanda Times has found, the students at the school submitted a petition to the administration to have some services improved to which the administration paid a deaf ear. “We are surprised to see that the administration has not responded to our queries, we are still eating the same diet we used to before, hostel conditions have not improved yet”, a form two student told Nthanda Times.
The students whose identities are still at large are believed to have done such a thing not in connection with the issue in context. The issue has since been reported to police and the school’s administration has urged the students to have a keen eye on one another. The administration will map a way forward on 5th October.
This comes barely three months after students at Mchinji Secondary School burnt the school’s kitchen because they were served with beans instead of eggs. Eleven students are still at Maula Prison while the other students were told to pay MK45,000 which failure to do so would lead to an indefinite suspension.
