Japanese highly rated Footballer Genki Nakamura has arrived in the country yesterday through Kamuzu Internation Airport ahead of his two week trial period at Mighty Be Forward Wanderers Fc.
The 28 year old star was expected to arrive today according to Mike Butao who is the General Secretary of Mighty Be Forward Wanderers and was supposed to spend the night in Ethiopia but due to some irregularities, he arrived in Malawi the same yesterday. This change of program meant that there was no Wanderers official the airport to welcome him. Upon arrival at the airport, he told the immigration department that he has come to play for Silver Strikers.
The Immigration department phoned Mr. Karonga who is one of Silver officials informing him of the development. Mr. Karonga drove to KIA to take Genki to his house.
When Mike Butao and Chris Kananji who is the Vice General Secretary of be Forward heard that Nakamura is in the country with Silver Officials, they embarked to take the player to Lilongwe Hotel. Butao told Media that Karonga was reluctant to release the player up until when Nakamura said that he has come to play for a team which is sponsored by Be Forward Company.
Nthanda Times understands that there was exchanging of one or two words between the officials of the two teams and at the end, Karonga was slapped by one of Wanderers’ Officials.
Nakamura is expected to stay in the country for two weeks and if discussions between the two parties will be fruitful, he will sign a contract with Be Forward Wanderers.
