Nyasa Big Bullets sponsors, Nyasa Manufacturing Company has yesterday donated K200, 000 towards an elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Sports Writers Association of Malawi (Swam) scheduled for Blantyre in April.
Speaking to Journalists in Blantyre on Tuesday, Nyasa Big Bullets Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Fleetwood Haiya said Nyasa expressed the need to help Swam as they contribute a lot to football reporting in the country as one way for the company of taking part in activities aimed at developing sports in the country. “This just shows commitment for Nyasa Manufacturing Company when it comes to football development in Malawi. Swam is a good vehicle that is also supporting the football development, this is why we thought it wise to partner with them”, said Haiya.
The CEO was sure that the contribution is not enough to cater for the AGM but believes it will take a mile to support the AGM for Swam. “To us the contribution is not sufficient. This is not what we wanted but in the meantime let’s do what we can manage”, he said.
Speaking after receiving the donation, interim Swam President Leonard Shara hailed Nyasa Manufacturing Company for the support. “We are very delighted for the donation. It may look a small figure but the money will go a long way in meeting some of the needs of Swan”, said Shara.
Shara continued to appeal more help from the corporate world as Swan is yet to reach the proposed budget of K4.5 million to hold the AGM. “Ours is just a plea to the rest of the companies, organizations and individuals to come and support us financially so that we should have a successful AGM. We had the same event last year where we incurred debts because we didn’t get the kind of support which we were looking for”.
The help has come barely a week after Castel Malawi donated K500, 000 to Swam on 21st March, 2018.
