Blessings Tembo’s dream to re-join his former team Silver Strikers from Mighty Be Forward has suffered a huge set back as Silver’s executive has come into open that they are not ready to bring their former captain back.
Speaking to Local media, Silver Strikers’ General Secretary Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda said they are not ready to bring back services of Blessings Tembo who joined Wanderers in December 2017 as a free agent following an expiry of his contract with the Capital City Giants.
Nyirenda said after having an executive meeting during the week over the issue, they have agreed not to resign Blessings Tembo because it would send a wrong message to other young players. “We agreed not to re-sign Blessings because the executive was disappointed with the way he left us to join Mighty Be Forward Wanderers”, said Nyirenda.
Nyirenda continued to say that the executive further said it is not possible to sign a player who is not yet cleared by Country’s major football governing body Super League of Malawi (Sulom) and that it would be beyond their budget for the 2018 Soccer season. “We don’t want to put ourselves under panic because we have already made budget for this season. Re-signing Blessings at this point in time would require us to revisit our budget”, said Nyirenda.
Blessings Tembo joined the Lali Lubani outfits on a three year contract from Silver Strikers as a free agent. However, he terminated his contract with the defending champions over unpaid signing on fee, with all hopes of returning to The Central Bankers despite his parent club refusing to clear him. Tembo is yet to play a game in the 2018 Tnm Super League Season.
